About Reilly Coding Education™

Built by someone who's done your job.

I've coded inpatient charts, audited thousands more, trained new hires from scratch, and managed entire coding departments. I built this school because I saw the same gap everywhere: newly certified coders who knew how to pass a test but had no idea how to do the job.

"I don't guarantee jobs. But I guarantee you'll leave this training significantly more capable and confident than when you arrived."

Chapter 1 — The Coder

I've sat in every chair in a coding department.

I started as an inpatient coder, reading charts and assigning codes just like you. I made every mistake there was to make, and I learned from every single one. That's where the foundation was built — not in a classroom, but in the trenches of real inpatient documentation.

Chapter 2 — The Auditor & Trainer

I saw the same mistakes everywhere.

When I moved into auditing, I saw the same errors showing up over and over from coders who had been trained the same way I had. Then I became a trainer, trying to fix those gaps with the limited tools available. And finally, I managed an entire coding department, watching talented people struggle because no one had ever taught them the logic behind the work.

Chapter 3 — The Founder

I built what I wished had existed.

Not another certification prep course. Not another video library you'll never finish. A structured training program that teaches you to think the way experienced coders think, so you can walk into a job and perform from day one. I built every lesson, every case study, and every simulator from real-world scenarios across 17+ years in inpatient coding. If you're tired of feeling unprepared, this is where that changes.

How I Teach

Everything I build is designed around three principles.

architecture

Real Charts, Not Textbooks

Real inpatient charts are messy. Conflicting documentation, missing signatures, 20 pages of progress notes. I teach you how to navigate the chaos, not sanitized practice scenarios.

psychology

Think Like an Auditor

I've been the auditor pulling your charts. When you learn to think the way auditors do, you stop making the mistakes that get flagged. That's how you build a reputation.

Defend Every Code You Assign

If you can't explain why you chose a code, you don't understand it well enough. I teach you the clinical reasoning behind your selections so you can back up your work with confidence.

This is for people who want to actually do the work.

If you're looking for someone to hand you the answers, this isn't the right place. But if you want to understand the clinical reasoning behind every code and build the kind of confidence that employers notice, you're home.

01

The Newly Certified Coder

You passed your CPC, CCS, or CIC but you don't feel ready to code real inpatient charts. This training closes that gap.

02

The Experienced Coder

You've been coding for a couple years but you feel the ceiling. You want deeper MS-DRG logic and audit confidence.

03

The Coding Lead or Manager

You need your team up to speed on inpatient coding fast. I offer structured training programs that get new hires and junior coders job-ready without pulling your experienced staff off the floor.
